Xrei

The solo work of Xrei was the first real explorations into actual synth jamming, real-time and layered. There’s always been a love for synth sounds, back even beyond the early aphasein days into our industrial and dance music roots, but although a lot of fun cheap Casio keyboards were played around with (especially the Casio CZ-1000), the actual library of synth sounds worked with was almost always programmed samples taken from friends’ synth collections and tons of Future Music Magazine sample CDs.

With Xrei, we dive into the cosmic soup at increasing speed, starlight dripping from the hull in shimmering iridescence, as the clockwork rhythms shift gears and skitter off the spheres. Or at least it feels that way.
